In the book Williams has a lot of stage directions that set the scene of the play. He describes the Wingfield apartment by saying it's a small unit in a crowded urban area. outside the apartment there's  a fire escape and that fire escape is where Tom goes to smoke. He smoke a lot and drinks a lot in the play to escape his nagging mother telling him what to do. When I saw the play it made the mother seem even more annoying than in the book. Mainly because of her annoying voice and how she would consistently speak and not give anyone a time to speak. It also seems as if she makes everything about herself. Like how she dresses up for Lauras occasion. In the book and play you can both see and or read about the stage directions and see the setup in the back of the book. In the Wingfield apartment living room and dining room. This is where all of the play is performed. There is a large photograph painting of the family's absent father on the wall. What was really interesting was in the movie how the mother dress herself and Laura for the dinner with the caller. I felt like the mother over did it for the occasion too. Also when Mrs wingfield found out that Jim had a girlfriend she looked broken, broken more than Laura, yet again making everything about herself, and when he's the leaves the house in the book Laura gives him the horn but when he leaves in the movie he got the full horse. I . didn't like how in the movie they took away the monologue from term that was in the book. This monologue was important because it gives you a lot of background information of what was going on but in the play is just Tom walking around and seeing like a ghost finger of his imagination eating dinner. I didn't really know what was going on until the end when he had came back. The lighting and the actors in the movie was very well presented. I could tell that there was lots of detail in the characters in the movie. Like small things of Laura taking a tiny piece of gum from Jim or like how Amanda talked Jim to death as soon as he walked in the room.

Amanda is Tom’s older sister. But most people thought Tom was the oldest because of his maturity, he's the only one with a job, and paying the bills. Without him the family is Going to suffer because Laura and Amanda is unemployed and the father of the house had left. Tom doesn't like his position. He wants to be free and discover the world and take risk but he can't because his mom and family is holding him back. He basically took his father spot in the family. It's his father's fault why he couldn't do what he wants. I believe tom hates his father but doesn't really show it in the play. When he leaves and says he's going to the movies, I think he lies and goes to the club to get drunk and have a good time and release stress from his family and the lost of his father. So Tom is stress and use the fire escape to smoke cigarettes to relieve his stress. Laura has a bad leg, on which she has to wear a brace, and walks with a limp. Twenty-three years old and painfully shy, she has largely withdrawn from the outside world and devotes herself to old records and her collection of glass figurines. She has problems and can't find a husband. So Tom tried to put her on with a Gentleman caller. That later backfires and leaves Laura sad. Tom gets in a fight with his mom once again at the end of the play and finally leaves because she tells him. I believe tom is going to be happy with his new like and have to not be responsible for others. So that is how he Changed, from being a family man to being a lonely man who does his own thing. Even if tom doesn't succeed he should be happy with the simple fact that he tried.

In the story Amanda is very controlling she always want to know where Tom is going and what he is doing. She says” I want to know where you're going” and “ I don’t believe that lie” like if Tom is lying after he said he’s been going to the movies. Then she says “ you're going to the movies to much”. This shows Amanda’s personality. She wants to be involved in everything. She told Tom to drink his coffee before it gets cold and nags at him. Tom is a grown man who should be able to do what he wants without his mom asking him where he is going.

Tom is a man who is stressed out. He works at day and at night comes home to a nagging Mom. Then goes to work again. I could see why hes fed up with this life and his mom bothering him all the time. I know he was mad with his mom because when he said he was going to “ the opium den, yes mother the opium dens, dens of vice and criminals’ hangouts, I carry a tommy-gun in a violin case. They call me killer, killer wingfield” he knew that if he had said this it would piss her off and did it anyway so they end up getting into a fight.

Laura is the sister of Tom and the daughter of Amanda. She stop going to school and lied to her mom by acting like she was going to school but actually going to the park everyday. She doesn’t work and is trying to live her life by depending on a husband to take her away and take care of her mom. I believe she knows her family is disfunctional because when Tom and their mom got into a fight she went to Tom the next day and said ”please make up with her Tom so she can talk to you again”. And when he came home drunk. She tried to control him so that he wouldn’t wake their mom up and start augment.

Recreating scenes from Romeo and Juliet with my group was fun there was some challenge but my group and I had overcame them. I played Romeo and I'm not gonna I kind of liked that part I enjoyed it and felt like it fit me well. Not only because I was the only boy in the group and had to play Romeo but I found it fun being the one of the main characters and always in the camera out of everyone in my group I think I had the most lines. Filming the plays, I found it kind of difficult to act out some of the scenes because some scenes made us cringe, so then we become awkward and start to bust out laughing or something. When you laugh you end up having to start the whole thing over again so it's hard to record scenes because it cause be going so good and can mess up the whole thing with a little mistake. Overall I thought I had acted out my scenes well. At first it was hard to look someone in the eyes and say "I love you" but then I just realized it not that big of a deal and did it. At first I was shy and scared to act because I didn't want to be Judged, I got use to all the people in my class and became friends with them so I was more comfortable. This made me present well and I believe my partners was also comfortable with me too and the helped made our group have the vision that we wanted for the project. This didn't really add to my understanding of Romeo and Juliet because it made it even harder to believe because in my project we had Romeo was a vampire and Juliet was human. Romeo married Juliet but she didn't know that he was a vampire at first, and when she found out she was ok with that and still loved him. But little did she know that Romeo's mom wants him to marry another vampire girl named Rosaline who loves Romeo and would go out her way to try to kill anyone and Juliet to be with him. That made it a bigger conflict with all that drama going on and on top of that  it made it more difficult to understand and believe because they were vampires.

The Caucasian chalk circle was a very interesting play. The beginning was cool when they started the play dark, then the characters had walked in, sat down, and continued sitting until the music stopped.  The title was also interesting I found out that it was taken from a case in the play where Azdak as Judge orders Shauwa to draw a white circled line around the young Michael who is at the centre of a custody row between Natella and Grusha. But Cheshire Academy did a good job presenting this play. I liked how it was serious, but it also had some comedic moments in it, like how the father was acting sick because of the drafting and as soon as he heard that the war was over he was fine.

The play began with soldiers in wwII sitting down in a circle, the white circle, talking and eating cheese, I really don't know why there was cheese involved. But then when they finished talking. There was a girl who decided to tell a story. That's when I got confused. I didn't realize she was telling a story at first until I saw her walking around narrating it and people wasn't paying attention to her like she was not there. Also there wasn't enough actors too so people were playing multiple roles so then I didn't realize who was who towards the end because most the characters was taken up by the same people.

The Caucasian Chalk Circle is actually two stories that had came together at the end. The first story is that of Grusha and the second story is that of Azdak. Both stories started in a Caucasian City ruled by a Governor, who serves a Grand Duke. The Governor has just had a child, Michael, and his wife Natella is very jealous of the attention he gives to his son so she abandoned him. She picked the serves to pick her dresses over the baby, power and money changes people.

The play had different lighting techniques. The way how they used the lighting was cool. They had spotlights, and use lights to show the night and day. They played music to set the mood at a certain time. Sound effects helped too. When there was a baby, there was a sound effect of a baby crying. Mainly because they couldn't have a baby actor on stage. So I thought that was cool. I also saw the people using signals and cues to time the switches right.

I had fun watching it the play, I was very entertained. It did had some negatives about it but it wasn't nothing that bad. It was a cool experience seeing people from your own community put something together like this. Looks like fun to be apart of.

The adaptation I want to make is from the scene when Romeo and Juliet first met at the party. I feel like this scene would be perfect because it's so easy to modernize and it would fit in well. The characters in it would be of course Romeo, Juliet and Mrs Capulet. This adaptation would take place in a arcade. The staging is similar to the party because theres a lot of people having fun playing games, and thats similar to a lot of people having fun and dancing. Then Romeo and Juliet could meet and have an instant connection when they happen to see each other playing a game they both like. It's a two player game and they played together, later falling in love. Then they find out that their parents don't like each other because of a conflict at work. Since their at an arcade there would have to be games, food, kids, and a lot a noise from the games being played, music in the background, and people talking having fun. The costumes can be casual dress because first of their kids and they didn't wake up thinking to impress somebody, they just wanted to be comfortable and play arcade games. The lighting in the arcade would be dark, the lights from the games are going to light the place up. The lights from the different games are going to be different colors so the place would look magical with a spectrum of colors flashing everywhere. I'm trying to set a videy relaxful mood with this setting. Kids just wanna have fun, maybe get away from problems or a stressful day of school and they didn't do so good on a test or something. The main reason why I chose this adaptation was because growing up I missed the going out to arcade stage. Technology sky rocked, so first there was arcade games then there was iPhones and everyone could play multiple games at home on their xboxes or PlayStations. So going back to simple times and seeing and meeting people would be cool to image. Also it's not likely to walk into an arcade and see a bunch of kids like that running around, it's only like that In the movies.

Movie review

Two kids meeting for the first time, falling in love, getting married behind their parents back and then killing their self over one another is crazy. I honestly thought that this movie was made very well. The actors the director picked for the spot were perfect. It felt like they were meant for those spots. It's fun to watch but in reality it's teenage kids who kill themselves over each other just after a couple of weeks of knowing each other. However the movie was different from the book. There was modern music, guns instead of knifes, missing scenes and etc. It was still an entertaining movie to watch, which modern life images with the same old historical language. I dislike the ending on how they had Juliet clearly moving and Romeo didn't even notice and still killed himself.
They had some very entertaining scenes. They did the beginning of the movie different than the beginning of the book. There was a disagreement between two groups. The two households had guns instead of swords and where shooting at eachother in a gas station then in the matter of seconds more people started going into a frenzy. There was so much going but I could still see someone getting shot in the head. It's funny because in the movie it was like no one cared that guy died. No one talked about him. In the book no one even died in that scene. I liked how they had the Chief as the prince it fit well. I was entertained, the characters also looked like regular teens so I felt a little more connected with them. Tibet and Mercutio scene was also very well staged. After Mercurio died it got very dark and it began to rain and thunderstorm. This showed Romeos emotion at the time since he was crying when he killed tybalt. It was smart and creative, That's a great way to set a mood in the movie. It's also made me feel for Romeo.
The way Romeo and Juliet's met was perfect. At a party with costumes first staring at fishes and then their eyes locked. It seems to me that's a way to show to the audience one thing they had in common, they both like to look at fishes. The cast was diverse, with different vibes like the play they wanted to party and have fun. I feel like in the book they were more strict.
What really kept me engaged was the modern music and staging like how once they were on a beach. It was so unexpected and caught me off guard. The reason why I was so caught of gaurd was because there would be that old language that they spoke in the book. Then started playing music I understand, the songs might've can out couple years ago. You would think if they wanna keep it natural and fresh they would use music during that time. But they just didn't care, and it made the movie unique.
Overall the the movie was good. They did a nice job putting it together. If I was the director of the movie I would change the whole thing up. I would change the language. I know that it's Shakespeare's history and all. but if you think about it, it's time for it to change. You think kids are gonna grow up knowing what Shakespeare was saying. I don't even know what he's saying and I'm 17. That's why I was into the movie but I felt like I couldn't relate to them that much just only the staging and their age but half of the time I had no clues what they were talking about.

One person I chose was Romeo. I gave Romeo a flower to show his charm, love, and respect toward Juliet in the play, he would also give her the rose. I would pick Ivan to be Romeo because he looks like that type of guy. Juliet in my play would have a ring and that ring would show the marriage between her and Romeo she would give it to him. I could see  Jessica playing that role. Tybalt would have a gun and use it to kill mercurio, tybalt could be Purtie because he’s so quite.  He also looks like the type to kill a guy. Mercurio he would have a shield to show that he protection toward Romeo when  tybal was trying to fight him. I could be Mercurio because I would’ve stood up for my friend in that situation. Friar lawerance has a potion to give to Juliet so she can fake dead. Nia would fit perfectly for the role because I can she her giving people potions to help them with problems. The nurse can hold tissues, she’s the one who cares for everyone and cries when they die. Yun looks like she could be a nurse, and she’s very kind so she fits the description. Jac can be the lord Capulet, he could have big pants. He’s the big guy in the family and makes all the decisions. Lord montauge has a brief case to show how busy he is and that’s why he wasn’t in the play so much. Prince has a crown and the crown symbols his power over everyone and that should be Jamaal because Jamaal likes power. Lastly Paris  in the play would have shades, the shades symbols him being blocked out from Juliet. I choose those characters because I feel like these are the most important characters you need to have the play. The play cannot be preformed without them. The others aren’t really important as the characters I picked in my opinion.

  takes place outside of Verona.

Romeo alone in Mantua having a about a dream he had the previous night.

Then he sees his personal servant, asks him if he heard anything about juliet

The servant   he saw Juliet's body being put into the Capulet's tomb.

so he rushed to Romeo to tell him the news.

Romeo can't believe Juliet is dead.

He asks Balthasar if he has a letter for him from Friar Laurence

because he knows Friar Laurence said that he would keep Romeo informed of any news.

 Romeo has not yet arrived.

Romeo decides to make a drastic decision and kill himself next to his wife.

The person who is most at fault in the book "Romeo and Juliet", is Romeo. Romeo was the one who caused all the disasters. He knew he shouldn't been with Juliet because she was a capulet, who was the enemy of his family. Also Romeo falls in love with girls to quick, he was just in love with Rosaline. That affected him and Juliet because he fell in love with her too, to fast, an example when he said to Juliet  "If I profane with my unworthiest hand. This holy shrine, the gentle fine is this: My lips, two blushing pilgrims, ready stand. To smooth that rough touch with a tender kiss." that's when things went downhill. You shouldn't date the daughter of your enemy and you shouldnt fall in love with a girl you just met. If Romeo had follow these rules every one in the beginning of the play would still be alive at the end.

I seen Les Miserables by watching the movie. The story took place in the area of Digne, Moving to the towns of Montfermeil and Montreuilsurmer. The second part of the book took place in Paris. I can’t tell what’s the climax of this story. There’s a lot of turning points, it  goes up and down, but overall I can see a message in this story. I can see that people deserve second chances. Everyone makes mistakes. People can do a bad things but then end up doing a million good things. I’m comparing this to Madeleine who changes his name to Jean after imprisonment. He once was a thief but change his ways becoming mayor helping people and taking care of them.
Madeleine the main character in the story spent nineteen years in jail for stealing a loaf of bread to help feed his family and had attempt to escape but failed,  when he was finally released, his past effected his future because he couldn't find a job to save his life. Even the shelter refused for him to spend the night. The only person who gave him a chance was a saint bishop. Jean repays the only man who treated him good by stealing his silverware. He didn't even get away, he was caught quick. When the police brought him back, the bishop protects him by saying that the silverware was a gift. I found that surprising how the bishop was so  protective to a man who stole from him. 8 years later a young girl named Fantine with an a child gets fired from her job that happens to Jean valjean. Fatine needs money for her daughter’s holders.  Desperate Fantine turns to prostitution gets very sick and gets in some trouble then has to be arrested. Jean helps her out of that sticky situation and gets her care and help for her daughter
A man has been arrested as Jean Valjean and is about to be pay for his crimes. Madeleine decides to confess his past. A few days later, he is arrested by Javert at Fantine's bedside. The shocking scene kills the young woman.Jean then excapes buys Cosette, Fantine’s infant daughter, from a abusive family who spoiled their own daughters and moves her place to place avoiding the man who’s after him. He gave Cosette safety and treating her like she was his own child. Cosette grows up meeting a man name Marius Pontmercy who has love her. Jean doesn’t like it and try’s to keep them apart. Then Jean had moved Cosette to England leaving Marius disappointed.
Jean also serve in the same war as Marius Pontmercy saving his life by bringing him though the sews in Paris. Later Jean is on his death bed and Marius is there with cosette realizing what he did for him and Jean dies in peace.
My favorite character was Fantine. The reason I like her is because she wasn’t a lazy person. She was motivated to save her daughter, she even got all her hair cut off, teeth pulled out, and sold herself to get money to take care of her kid. Like I know prostitution is wrong. But she changed her whole life and became nothing just trying to do good for her child.
The movie had a lot of singing, honestly I didn’t like the singing I didn’t think it was that good. It sounded like opera but not good opera, just sounded like people yelling at the top of there voice and saying words. The movie was interesting itself though, I like the theme of the play it was very intertaining

In act 3 scene 1 would say Romeo is the main reason for Mercurios death because Romeo stopped him from fighting and was holding him down when tyblat stabbed him. Also the fight between Mercurio and tyblat wouldve been avoided and been between Romeo and tyblat. It's because Romeo didn't stood up for himself , but Mercurio did for him. When tyblat said to Romeo "Romeo, the love I bear thee can afford No better term than this: thou art a villain." He was calling Romeo his enemy but Romeo was trying to make peace with him instead of fighting because of his love for Juliet. Mercurio should've mind his business anyway and not have fought tyblat because tybalt didn't want him, he wanted  Romeo.

If I was to set this up as a director I would  have tyblat beating up Romeo, outside a restaurant.  Romeo not fight back because he's trying to explain his married to Juliet. Mercurio comes out the restaurant to help Romeo, but Romeo grabs Mercurio and tells him to stop. Then tyblat stabs Mercurio behind his back. Then the lights get darker and Romeo gets red and goes on a rampage. Screams and starts chasing tyblat throughout the parking lot. With hardcore music playing in the background.

I believe that Friar Lawrence is a peacemaker. He didn’t meant for everything to go wrong. He simply was trying to wed Romeo and Juliet because he saw that they were madly in love, and he thought that with them being married that would bring peace between their two households. Friar Laurence even said “But come, young waverer, come, go with me. In one respect I'll thy assistant be, for this alliance may so happy prove. To turn your households' rancor to pure love.” Friar Laurence is a father of the church. With that being said, why would he even want bad to happen to anyone. Fathers of the church look to help and pray for people in need. He thought he was doing good, but when actually he was doing bad. I believe that Friar Laurence shouldn’t have wed Romeo and Juliet. For the simple reason that he knew that the other day Romeo was in love with Rosaline he even said  “Holy Saint Francis, what a change is here! Is Rosaline, whom thou didst love so dear, So soon forsaken? Young men's love then lies Not truly in their hearts, but in their eyes.” Wouldn’t you think Friar would of had enough sense to not wed Romeo and Juliet so quick. It doesn’t make sense to marry someone right after they was in love with someone else. He also wed them would out their parents permission. He know their kids, and he chose to marry them without their parents even knowing. Without them even being at the wedding. Romeo and Juliet being married wouldn’t change anything with their parents feud. They would still be angry and probably even angrier. Even if the parents did agreed with them being married. They could’ve stop tybalt for trying to fight Romeo, and Mercutio and tybalt would still be alive. Or If he never married them, Romeo and Juliet could’ve still been alive at the end.

Romeo decides that he cant go home without trying to find Juliet so he climbs a wall bordering the Capulet house. Benvolio and tries Mercurio to find  Romeo but he doesnt want to be found. Juliet appears at a window above the spot where Romeo is standing. Juliet doesn't know that Romeo is in her garden, and said "why Romeo must be Romeo be a Montague, and therefore an enemy to her family." Romeo then surprised Juliet, because she thought she was alone and he confesses he's love for Juliet, she scared that Romeo is going to get murdered if he is found. But Romeo a savage, he refuses to leave, saying that he doesn't care cause he loves Juliet . They both confess their love to each other again but the Nurse calls for Juliet, and Juliet goes inside then comes out tells Romeo that she will send someone to him the next day to see if his love is real or not and if he wants to marry her. The Nurse calls again and they set a time at nine in the morning. They say their love for another one more time before saying good night then Romeo leaves.

If I was staging Romeo and Juliet and had to show the Montagues and Capulets similar class status and wealth, but also make them recognizably different I would use different colors with the characters costumes. I would have the Montagues wear darker colors and have the Capulets wear much lighter colors. I would do this to show the difference between the two. Think about sports teams, the two teams wouldn't wear the same color because you wouldn't be able to tell the difference, you can tell the difference of them because they have two different color jerseys. Only Romeo and Juliet would wear similar colors to show their bond and connection. The two families would be treated like royalty. They would have drivers, servants, assistant, and etc. That would make the audience see that the characters are important because usually upper class people have all those things. To show the people that the Montagues are enemies I would add some competitiveness. One always trying to beat the other in a activity. I would also just throw some history into it. Maybe the families had bad history with their ancestors involving some stolen money or something like one grandfather killing the others.

The first time Shakespeare introduce Romeo I felt like he was sad. The reason why I felt like he was sad because he was crying over Rosaline the girl he used to like. Romeo at that young age probably didn’t know how to feel. He was probably confused about his love life. But Romeo didn’t do anything for me to diss like him. I honestly thought that he was an ok kid. same with Juliet when Shakespeare introduce Juliet. Juliet was the type of girl that had her parents control her life. Similar to how Paris try to control their daughters at this time of age. They picked what she wear who she was going to marry, what she was going to do and etc. If you think about it through Juliet was still 13 years old so that was pretty much ok because she wasn’t grown enough to make decisions for herself. Her parents tried to plan her future. I like how Juliet carried herself though she saw Romeo and fell in love with him and stood by him when everyone wanted her to go to the Prince. Even though Romeo and Juliet families were enemies they didn’t make that separate their love for each other, I respect that. They were normal teens that just wanted to be together and didn’t listen to what people had to say they wanted to be themselves they were also rebels. For that I like Romeo and Juliet. My favorite would probably be Romeo when he killed tybalt because he killed his friend Mercucio. I like that he stood up for him and killed Tybalt that has major respect from because if someone had killed me and my friend got my back and took out that person I would be very thankful. Romeo also knew the consequences of killing him and she still did it to avenge his friend.  That’s love right there and I also didn’t like how Juliet excepted the fact that Romeo killed her cousin. Her cousin was with her for her entire life then a boy comes along and kills your cousin and she sees nothing by it. Acts like nothing happened how are you going to pick aboy you just met over your family knew for your entire life. I don’t respect that. Shakespeare did a good job with the beginning of the story. I was interested the entire time. Some things I didn’t understand because of the language but overall I knew what was happening.

The project I did yesterday was fun. I got to see the different method other groups used to pull it off. Some groups with a linger time used narrrorators. In my opinion that's a job done well because, first the narrorator can just talk and  tell the plot and what's happening, also if they have a limited amount of time they could just speak a little faster, but the best part about a narrorator is that the actors don't have to take there time to say there lines they just have to move there bodies and act out what the narrator is saying. My group was the shortest time being 30 secs. We decided to go with the scene before last. It was impossible to preform the whole story in 30 secs so we had to pick a specific part. The scene we pick was when Juliet was in her homb. Prais was there looking at her corpse. Romeo walks in, kills Paris and then kills hisself to be with Juliet (dead). With a tragic twist because Juliet had took a sleeping potion and woke up to see the dead Romeo and kill herself over him.

Tuesday, September 26, 2017

There was a brawl on the streets of Verona in the beginning. The fight was between servants from the Montague and Capulet households. Montague being Romeo and Capulet and Juliet. Romeo's cousin Benvolio tried to stop the fight but was  drawn into it by Tybalt of the Capulets. The fight  escalates and more citizens become involved. The heads of both households appear on the scene. Lastly Prince Escalus arrives and stops the fighting. He forbid  outbreaks of violence and if broken this you faced the pain of death. Later Romeo becomes sad because of a girl named Rosaline. Benvolio tell him to forget Rosaline and look for for another girl but Romeo thinks that would be impossible. Then Romeo sneaks into the capulets party because of his friends sees Juliet and falls in love at first sight. Tibet sees Romeo and wants to start a fight but was told to keep the peace.

In the Romeo and Juliet prologue, it was the opening scene explaining the story and it was saying the setting. It anounced the two house holds, the Capulets and Montagues. Said they where enemies and that two young lovers which is Romeo and Juliet died because of the hate and was dead Infront of here parents .I didn't really understand what they actually was saying at the end but this is what I got from the prologue.

My devising experience went well. I had fun doing it. I felt good preforming a play me and my group had created. For me it was different because In the play I was the one who was getting picked on. I haven't really gotten picked on so I didn't really know how to act, I guess that if Someone was getting picked on they would be sad and depressed. Also the characters mom died in the play, so not to joke around the character could've been suicidal because that's a lot to take in. My group did an ok job but I think we would've did better. It was our first try so we was a little quite and not sure what to do. But then later into the play we got in our grove and spoke up more. It was hard to talk when other people is talking an example is like a fight. Everyone is talking and you can't hear what's happening. I learned to feed off your partner, let them talk and when they finish, think about what they said and then make a interesting response. Watching other groups I seen better ways on how to have good facial expressions. Also I saw different ideas to add to my own performance.
My group and I had two plays. We perform one but we also like the other one. For the graded project we're going to perform the second play. The reason why is because it's a comedy and we like it the way it feels. It would be easier to have funny not so serious expressions then to have so emotional, sad expressions. We want the crowd to be more engaged and with something  like a comedy that's how they would be  because they would be laughing and laughing is a sign of happiness, instead of being sad for a kid that is getting bullied in the previous play. The second play is about an old man withtreasure in his backyard. kids come and try to find it but then the old man tries to scare them off and ends up having a heart attack. The kids steal the treasurer then later finding out the old man that died was there grandfather. Tragic but we turned it into a comedy. Hopefully we perform the play good and receive a great grade. My partners and I have been practicing well so I think we will do be able to do that.

Another word for Devised theatre is collaborative creation. You can say devised theater is like improv it's people telling, but it's a story the actors wanna tell it. The method most people use is to begin by focusing on form, and then take out some  ideas from the story and work with them in a wider view. This way of performance has become very popular over the few decades, and it has become a great tool helping creating real life conversations with an audience. The reason why is because it's someone a person would do and not a fictional character .

When I was preforming as  troy, I felt like I had to act a little mad and confused. He was saying “why” alot. When someone says "why" their asking a question. That means their confused. when I was acting, I made up my face alot. You can say it was a stink face. I am not going to lie. I felt that this project was kind of hard. I tried multiple times and fail, but then I got more comfortable and I got a good video. I tried to use hand emotions so people would be more entertained but I feel like if I had more time to practice that I could've did things a lot better. It was hard to walk around, sit down, and moving my hands when I wasn't comfortable with the material, I wasn't a expert with my lines and I didn't have my mind made up on what I wanted to do. Seeing other people go help me with my emotions. Seeing my classmates with good emotions using good tone of voice helped me do mine. I learn from seeing people do it themselves and also seeing them struggle to made me feel like I wasn't alone. If I was to do this again. I would practice more, I feel like practicing more would of help me with my lines and preforming so I could do more things like walk around and stuff. Also I will be slower when I am performing my lines. I will let someone go in front of me and see what they did and see how it work or didn't work for them and implement it in my own performance. Seeing my self on video acting was interesting too. At first I didn't want to look because it made me cringe mainly because I don't believe I would ever say those words. But now that I look at it I can see myself, but seeing myself in a 30 second video is way different then seeing yourself in a 2 hour movie. I really want to see what I would look like in a movie. With the good lighting, audio and props.

This is troy talking to his wife and friend. He just came from work. He might be a little tipsy because he was drinking. He's explaining his situation at work. He's a garbage man and him and all the black workers are to pick up the garbage, and all the white workers all they have to do is drive the truck. All Troy wants to do is have a steady rotation of people driving and picking up the trash. So he's explaining his opinion to his wife and friend.

When I preform this I'm going to have a water bottle in my hand and sometimes take a swig. I might have a little slur in my voice to and talk a little slow. I'm not gonna act like I'm drunk, but ima gonna ask a little tipsy. I might have some anger in my voice to show I'm upset about the situation

Two kids meeting for the first time, falling in love, getting married behind their parents back and then killing their self over one another is crazy. I honestly don't believe why this play is so popular. I like how people perform it. It's fun to watch but in reality it's teenage kids who kill themselves over each other just after a couple of weeks of knowing each other. Well that's what happened in Romeo and Juliet. However the way the performance was on that day was different from any I saw before. There was modern music, dancing, and etc. It was fun to watch and I had a lot of favorite parts like in the beginning and one towards the end.
They had some very entertaining scenes. My personal favorite is when in the beginning it was two people then in the matter of seconds more people started coming out, then more. There was a disagreement between two groups. That started a fight everyone bursts out in a frenzy. There was so much going on I couldn't lock my eyes to any specific character. I liked how they did that in the beginning it started the show with a Big Bang. I was entertained from the jump. That's good because if you start of a play slow, you start to loose the crowd. Another thing they did well  was  how they removed Tibet and Mercutio bodies from the stage. It was smart and creative, they had them stand up be still look like a ghosts, put white cloaks on them, handed then their weapons and they walked of stage. That's a great way to move the bodies off stage. It's also made me feel like I went to their  Funeral.
I liked how Juliet's parents were a interracial couple and there was a very diverse cast, because I don't really see that in plays. Especially in Romeo and Juliet, when I go to plays most of the cast is caucasian mainly because at that time it was usually them around and big time productions want it to be realistic.
What really kept me engaged was when they had modern music and dancing during scenes. It was so unexpected and caught me off guard. The reason why I was so caught of gaurd was because I knew some of the songs that were being played, they might've can out couple years ago. You would think if they wanna keep it natural and fresh they would use music during that time. But they just didn't care, and I like that. If some one in the audience is falling asleep or not even paying attention then outta nowhere they start blasting Beyoncé ~ girls run the world, I bet that would catch someone's attention.
Overall the the play went well. They did a nice job putting it together. If I was the director of the play I would change the whole thing up. I would change the word. I know that it's Shakespeare's history and all. If you think about it, it's for it to change. You think kids are gonna grow up knowing what Shakespeare was saying. I don't even know what he's saying and I'm 17. That's why I was into the play but I felt like I couldn't relate or be engage with what was going on because half of the time I had no clues what they were talking about.

I've been tall all my life. I was very tall at a young age. Imagine going into your freshman year and everyone is thinks that your a PG. The first day of classes I got so many stares it was unbelievable. People would walk up to me and say, "Wow your so big"! and in my head I'm  thinking  "Wow your very small". It's crazy like some of those kids looked like toddlers with a lot of makeup, but people thinking your a PG it's kinda dope though. No one try's to bother you, mostly because they are scared of you. But Im not gonna lie if I was a little freshmen and I saw 6'6  strong handsome man like myself I would be pretty scared too.

My name is Jamaal Waters. I am a new student at Cheshire Academy. I'm a 11th grader and a resident of Hartford, Connecticut. I took IB Lit and Performance to get out of my comfort zone, experience new things, and see how creative I am with writing, acting and ex. My first couple of days of class was fun it was  entertaining. I like how we played games, it got me very engaged. I also got a taste to see what my peers can come up with on the spot. I get to see how creative they could be.

Now let's get talk about me. First I was just a average kid who goes to school, then goes home and plays video games all day then goes to sleep anddo it all over again. Now I'm at a private boarding school playing basketball everyday working on my game. But a great turning point in my life was when I started growing. I was over six feet tall in the sixth grade. Actually I was tallest kid in my school in 6th grade. That's when I started growing rapidly. This also opened up my chances of being a great basketball player. As of right now I'm 6'5 I've been tall all my life. When being this tall you get a lot of questions like, "how's the weather up there? Do you play sports? Why can't I be as tall as you? What size is your shoes, etc. But I am happy with myself being tall opens up a lot of amazing opportunities.

Right now I go to Cheshire Academy. This year is my first year here. I made a big decision to leave my old school and friends to come here and better myself. The last school I when to I had had fun. I also built a lot of relationships with the people there. Then I realized I wasn't getting push hard enough in my favorite sport (basketball). I knew Cheshire was a good fit for me because I knew that they were a good academic school and had a great reputation at sports. It's funny because I played against there team in Football and basketball when I was a freshman and sophomore but I never thought that's I would transfer to this school. I guess you could never know what could happen.

It's hard starting a new  boarding school. You give up a lot of things at home. You don't see your old friends as often. It's hard to keep in touch cause your always busy. Plus your trying to make new friends or when you do make new friends, your probably always with them and won't have time to call anyone or talk to anyone. I'm use to the boarding school life. I've been doing it since 7th grade. I'm in 11th now, that means I've been living away from home for like 5 years. That's 5 years! I had left so many things behind its not even funny. People who I have called my brothers I don't even speak a word to anymore. The main reason why is because they live so far. I have friends who live in places like Brazil, Boston, Denver, Florida, California, New York, and more. Boarding school may be fun but if you do it enjoy it while it last because most of your friends, it's possible you'll never see them again.

So now you know a little bit about me. I hope to have a good year at school and make close friends. If you read this thank you. And this is the end of my first blog.✌🏽
